Born and brought up in Canada, Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu and Anupreet Kaur had a penchant for fashion since a very young age. However, it was only in 2016 that they decided to take the plunge and start their clothing company, Jangiiro which is named after their late paternal uncle, Jangir Kaur.

As the duo grew up, they developed an unconditional love for Punjab and with the passage of time, they decided to translate the myriad hues of Punjab to exquisite fashion.

In an exclusive interview, we speak to Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu to know more about her journey in this industry.

What sparked your interest in fashion designing?

My sister and I fell in love with Punjabi clothing at a young age. We loved everything about Punjabi clothes from the texture and colours to the style and fit. We always knew what we wanted our outfits to look like, but we struggled with ready-made suits that never quite looked right. We decided to give designing our outfits ourselves a try. We found our own tailors, seamstresses and embroiderers and started making our own outfits. They turned out amazing and we loved the way we felt in the clothes we designed.
