An empowered woman is powerful beyond measure and beautiful beyond description,” and this quote aptly describes Dr Kavita Saggar, an eminent Radiologist from the region who has created ripples of change in her field of expertise.

After pursuing her MBBS from Government Medical College, Amritsar, followed by a post-graduation in Radio Diagnosis from the same college, Dr Saggar has been practicing in the Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana (DMCH) since almost the last three decades and is also serving as the Head of Department, Radio-diagnosis at DMCH since the last 14 years.

A proud Professor at heart, she firmly shares, “People often ask me what do I make or rather, how much do I make? and my answer has always been that I make Radiologists.

What’s more? Dr Saggar has served as the President of the State chapter of Indian Radiology And Imaging Association (IRIA) twice and has been a member of the Senate committee of Baba Farid University Of Health Sciences, Faridkot.

But her role doesn’t end here, she is also a mom to two adorable children – Karan (26) and Vani (23) who are presently pursuing their higher education abroad (and two golden retrievers who never leave her side!).

In a candid tête-à-tête with Dr Kavita Saggar, we explore her trailblazing story of juggling between her personal and professional commitments as a pro.

The journey has been really satisfying but also difficult at times. At the professional front, I would say that I have achieved success in all the endeavours that I undertook. Whereas, at the personal front as well, I consider myself to be successful as my children have turned out to be well-groomed and are doing great professionally.

What are some key challenges that you have had to face while juggling your role as a super mom and an entrepreneur? How did you overcome them?

There were plenty of challenges during this journey, but I took them head-on. One of the most challenging situations that I can recall of is from the days when I was young and my children were small. They needed more time and attention not only for their education, but also for their overall growth and development. During those days, I had put in loads of efforts to put my best foot forward as a mother as well as a Radiologist.
