‘Simi’s Artistry Completes My Rational Strategies: Sanjeev Sood’

He started his journey with Goodyear Tires and joined Aditya Birla Group in 2006; he and his wife moved to Thailand in 2009. Simi, his wife, is an active social worker in the Indian diaspora in Thailand and a former professional Kathak dancer. In conversation with Urban Melange, Sanjeev Sood, CMO Asia Birla Carbon & Country Head for Aditya Birla Group, Thailand, talks about his journey and how his wife inspires him.

As a couple, tell us about your journey in Thailand. What has been your biggest strength together?

I joined the Aditya Birla Group in 2006 in China. Simi and I moved to Thailand in 2009 when I was posted as the Unit Head for the Group’s largest Carbon Black factory in the world at a single location. At this time my children were still studying. Now as both our children Pranay and Shruti are well settled in their personal and professional lives, Simi and I have time to spend on ourselves. Our biggest strengths have been our mutual trust and commitment. Over the last 36 years of marriage, we have provided each other with the support and encouragement required to achieve both our dreams, as individuals and as a couple.

How do you both collaborate on community-focused initiatives, considering your wife’s active involvement in social work?

Simi is very active in the Indian Diaspora in Thailand. She is part of many social committees & the Indian Women’s Association.  Through her social network and during diaspora events she comes across a wide range of people from different walks of life. Her perspective provides me with an expansive view on community matters and activities. Due to my professional commitments, my ability to engage in many of these are left in her capable hands. I have realized that she is not just my wife but my exclusive PR and engagement expert.
