Majithia, SAD’s face of Amritsar

Politics in Punjab is synonymous with the name of Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bikram Singh Majithia. This time, he is all set to set the temperature of the polls high as he is contesting against Congress’s Navjot Singh Sidhu from Amritsar.

Majitha constituency is a strong base for Bikram, and he has won from that seat from 2007 to 2017. He has been with the party for decades and is currently also the president of its youth wing and Youth Akali Dal. Coming from a strong background, working for the people of his country is in his blood as his father is a former Deputy Defence Minister. Majithia is the brother-in-law of Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and brother of former Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

He started his political career from the Majitha constituency when he won the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Election in the year 2007. He is ex-minister of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Information & Public Relations, and Non-Conventional Energy. He has been a guide and inspiration to many young politicians and has been inspiring youngsters to join politics. Through Youth Akali Dal he has made sure that youngsters are given a platform to put up their opinions and thoughts when it comes to the betterment of society. With his drive to connect the youth with politics through various social activities, a positive spirit is inculcated in the students’ minds. Under his guidance various blood donation campaigns, donation of tricycles to the disabled, and marriage of underprivileged girls have been organized. He has always been committed to the upliftment of the living standards of people and has been upholding a lot of development work in his constituency.
