Ageing Isn’t the Enemy: Komal Mittal on Skin Longevity & Building With Women

For Komal Mittal, Co-Founder of Karmic Beauty, the idea for the brand came from a decade spent testing formulations from Europe, South Korea and America, always searching for skincare that protected her skin without borrowing from tomorrow. Most fell short. What was formulated around longevity remained locked behind biotech and luxury price points, and little was created for Indian skin. So, she stopped waiting and started formulating with the women who needed it as much as she did.

What inspired you to build Karmic Beauty around skin longevity?

Before I was an entrepreneur, I was a consumer too—probably the most demanding one because nothing seemed to work on my skin. The more I tried, the more I realised my problem was not simply that I had not found the right product. I was looking at skincare through the wrong lens.

We had become focused on fixing what we could see, but rarely asked what was happening underneath or what our skin would need years from now. I didn’t want to create another product that promised to make my skin look better today. I wanted to understand the biology behind every skin concern and build skincare around keeping it healthy, resilient and functioning well for longer. That led me to Skin Longevity and ultimately to Karmic Beauty.

How do you see beauty shifting from anti-ageing to healthy ageing?

I see beauty moving from trying to reverse ageing to helping skin age gracefully. Instead of creating anxiety around looking older, healthy ageing is about understanding why changes happen—through sun exposure, stress, hormones or time—and supporting skin accordingly. Women should have access to products and information that help them maintain healthy, resilient skin at every stage of life.
