The Brand Machine of India

Sanjeev Juneja

An Indian industrialist, Investor and philanthropist, Sanjeev Juneja has worked immensely to acquaint New India with a modern form of Ayurveda. His entrepreneurial journey started in one room with Rs. 2,000 in his pocket and he is now ranked amongst country’s top business tycoons. A true torchbearer of Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat, Juneja has crafted multiple home grown Ayurvedic brands such as Kesh King, Dr Ortho, Roop Mantra, Sachi Saheli, Petsaffa, Accumass, Itchku, Badman and Tulsi Mantra among others.

Touted as a ‘Brand Machine‘ by the media, Sanjeev Juneja struck one of the biggest deals in the history of Indian FMCG sector, when Emami acquired his six-year-old brand Kesh King. The USD 262 million deal valued Kesh King more than five times its annual sale. Instead of choosing to invest heavily in building a huge distribution infrastructure, Juneja chose to focus on core competencies of developing unique Ayurvedic products to suit modern lifestyle.

His journey

In a life phase when most young men scramble for career choices, Juneja battled the loss of his father at the age 23 in 1999, which put complete responsibilities of his mother and sister on his shoulders. While combating the odds of life, he got the requisite support from family and thus within two years, started his own bootstrapped firm Sanjeev Pharmaceutical in 2001. Just a few years later in 2008, he started a firm by the name of SBS BIOTECH UNIT – II, which holds the trademark for Kesh King, and this kick-started his evolution as a ‘Brand Machine’. His huge portfolio including his brands can be estimated to have contributed a net worth of approximately Rs 10,000 Crore to the Indian Economy.

In the course of his journey as the chieftain of modern Ayurveda, Juneja has generated income source for lakhs of Indian citizens, residing in both urban as well as rural parts of the country. He is also the founder trustee of IKJ Care Foundation, which contributed immensely towards various social work activities, especially during the ongoing battle against the pandemic.
