Former Professor and Head, Department of Pediatric Surgery, PGIMER, Chandigarh, Dr KLN Rao has four decades of clinical, teaching and research experience in Pediatric Surgery / Pediatric Urology.
Presently working as the Director, Pediatric Surgery, Paras Bliss, Panchkula, Dr Rao had set up the Department of Pediatric Surgery at Advanced Pediatrics Center at PGI, which serves as a tertiary childcare center for the entire North India. Here’s more about his trailblazing journey!
What made you to become a Pediatric Surgeon?
After my General Surgical qualification in 1978, I was posted by chance, in Pediatric Surgery. After working day & night for 2 years, I realized the happiness & gratefulness in the eyes of young parents, when their little ones become normal after operations for serious illness. Professionally, Pediatric Surgery gives the opportunity to treat a wide variety of diseases from head to toe in children and that gives tremendous professional satisfaction. Like other groups of patients, one is not looking for 5 or 10 years of survival. We are going to watch this person in his full life.
