Nisha Luthra: Where Art Becomes Healing

Some artists perform. Some create. And individuals like Nisha Luthra transform art into a lived experience — something that heals, connects, and awakens. A theatre and film director, poet, and holistic healer, Nisha has built a unique path at the intersection of performing arts and emotional well-being, using creativity not just for expression but for transformation.

Her journey into the arts began during a deeply personal phase of loss. At a time when many might withdraw, Nisha discovered theatre as a source of alignment and purpose. What started as an artistic exploration soon became a powerful healing tool. She realised that storytelling, voice, and movement could harmonise the mind and body, blurring the line between performance and real life. This philosophy still defines her work today, where theatre becomes an inner journey and art becomes a mirror of self-awareness.

Work

Over the years, Nisha has built an impressive body of work across films, theatre, and literature. Her films such as Brinda, The Sehgal House, and Outside the Safehouse have received recognition at national and international film festivals for their strong storytelling and sensitive exploration of human emotions and mental health. These projects have earned awards across categories including Best Film, Best Director, and Special Jury honours, reflecting both artistic depth and social relevance.

As a poet, her collection UNS has touched readers across cultures and languages, translated into Hindi, English, Urdu, Punjabi, Assamese, Oriya, and French. Her poetry carries a universal emotional voice, allowing people from different backgrounds to connect with its themes of reflection, vulnerability, and strength.
