Tell us about your journey till now. What led you to becoming a gynaecologist?
I’ve been practicing gynaecology for more than 22 years. I always had a strong desire to serve people and make a difference to their lives. But one incident deeply moved me and that was when I saw a woman give birth to a child on the road. I was too young then to understand what was unfolding before me. But it surely did influence my path of becoming a gynaecologist. I feel blessed if I can make a difference to a woman’s life.
In today’s time, what are some of the most common gynaecological problems that you see in your practice? And what might be the reason behind it?
Cases ofhormonal disturbance, polycystic ovary syndrome, endometriosis and fibroids have increased as more women are coming to Fortis Mohali with similar health issues. This could be attributed to lifestyle-related changes, sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity and exercise, stress and consuming more junk food.
