Your Mental Space Is the Most Valuable Real Estate

Dr. Sona Luthra Narang, Psychologist and Relationship Therapist, has spent over two decades guiding individuals toward emotional well-being and self-awareness. A practicing psychologist, mentor, and founder of two ventures, she blends psychology, behavioural training, and image coaching to help people strengthen resilience, confidence, and inner balance in everyday life.

What inspired you to choose psychology as your life’s calling?
It still amazes me that at the age of sixteen I fell in love with Psychology when I chose it in grade 11. Since then, there has been no looking back — the love only grew deeper. I went on to complete my Doctorate and Master’s in Psychology with specialization in Clinical Psychology, along with Honours in Psychology from Punjab University. Psychology is the study of the human mind and behaviour, exploring how and why people think and act the way they do, and that is exactly what my profession is about.

For the past 26 years, I have been a practicing psychologist and relationship coach, a guest faculty and mentor with reputed institutions across India, and Founder & CEO of Life in Balance: The Psychology Counselling Services and The Style Coaching Academy: Creating a Unique You. I am also a trained and certified Style Coach from the Style Coaching Academy, London, and a member of the International Association of Style Coaches. My journey has been enriching, working with people from diverse professions, age groups, and backgrounds, helping them with counselling, therapy, behavioural training, and social skill development.

How can individuals build emotional resilience in stressful times?
Nourish yourself through self-care, regular exercise, mindfulness, and meditation to regulate emotions. Watch your emotions from a distance and don’t believe every thought. Cultivate a growth mind-set by reframing challenges as opportunities. Engage in small autonomous tasks that build problem-solving skills, stay flexible, and nurture meaningful connections. These habits strengthen optimism and recovery from setbacks.
