Tangled in White Coats – Love, Medicine and Business

This is a story of a couple whose bond grew stronger amidst beeping monitors and surgical gowns. Dr. KM Kapoor, pursuing his MS in Surgery, and Dr. Puneet Kapoor, navigating the intricacies of MD in Anesthesiology and Critical Care, found each other in the heart of a hospital.

Their love story is far from conventional, spanning 26 years of shared dreams, long hours, and the unwavering commitment to both medicine and each other. As they recount their journey, it’s evident that the operation theatre was not just the place where surgeries unfolded but where a lifelong partnership began to take shape. “We bonded over caring for our patients,” reminisces Dr. KM Kapoor, “those days and nights in junior residency were challenging, but we weathered them together.” And so, their decision to tie the knot marked the commencement of a roller coaster ride – a journey that took them from enhancing their education at PGIMER to becoming a formidable team of a plastic surgeon and an anesthesiologist.

As co-directors of Anticlock Medispa, the couple seamlessly blended their professional and personal lives, raising two wonderful kids along the way. “Having a partner who understands the intricacies of a plastic surgeon’s life is a blessing,” says Dr. Puneet Kapoor. “It meant fewer conflicts over missed social engagements or running the house. We became partners not just in life but also in work.” The dual role of being life partners and co-directors has proven advantageous, contributing to a more balanced lifestyle, especially now as empty nesters. The shared understanding of the demands of their respective professions allowed them to navigate the challenges with grace.

But their story doesn’t stop at medicine; it takes an unexpected turn into the world of business. Co-founding Anticlock wasn’t just about providing top-notch medical services; it was about building a brand. With no background in business, the couple decided to pursue an executive MBA in their forties, a decision that raised eyebrows but ultimately fortified their shared vision. “Our parents couldn’t understand why we were embarking on another degree program,” laughs Dr. KM Kapoor. “But our shared dream pushed us to add an MBA to our portfolio.” This alignment of professional goals became the bedrock of their joint venture, steering them through tough times like the challenges posed by the Covid years.

With different medical specializations, they leveraged each other’s skills, enhancing the quality of patient care at Anticlock. The synergy between Dr. KM Kapoor’s expertise in cosmetic surgery and injectables and Dr. Puneet Kapoor’s critical care background led to the diversification of services, expanding into the wellness arena with Coolsculpting and wellness IV infusions.
