Atul Soni and Shalini Soni are a powerful example of how fitness shapes both personal and professional excellence. While Atul serves as a senior officer in the Punjab Police, Shalini competes as a national-level powerlifter. Together, they show how discipline, resilience, and mutual support define true strength.
How does fitness support your demanding roles in everyday life?
Atul: Fitness is the backbone of my profession. It gives a positive attitude. Policing demands long hours, quick responses, and emotional stability. Regular physical training keeps me mentally alert, improves stamina, and builds resilience, enabling me to lead effectively under pressure.
Shalini: Fitness defines my lifestyle. Powerlifting has strengthened not just my body but my mind-set. It brings discipline, focus, and balance, helping me manage training, competitions, and personal responsibilities with confidence.
Atul: What inspired you to choose this as your profession?
Being part of the police force allows me to serve, protect, and contribute to law and order. Wearing the uniform is an honour that demands integrity, courage, and commitment.
Shalini: How did your journey into national-level powerlifting begin?
Over time, training became a passion, then a purpose. With consistent effort, guidance, and belief, local competitions led to state and eventually national platforms.
