Trying to dig deep and understand the requirements of parents as well as students, Raghav Vasal, CEO, Vasal Educational Group, works with his entire team to make learning a better experience in all his educational institutions. In a conversation with Nikita Agarwal, he chats in detail about his journey and how he aims to shape up the education sector in Punjab.
Q. Give us an introduction of yourself and your business?
I have done my honors in entrepreneurship from the University of Westminster. On returning to India I joined The Vasal Educational Group. We currently have six schools running and the seventh one is coming up. We began our quest for education by setting up our first school at Dasuya in 2006—Cambridge international school. The second School at Hoshiarpur in 2009 was Gems Cambridge international school and then in 2012, we came up with IVY World School Jalandhar and IVY World Play School. Our vision to help society with education went further and in 2014 we came up with a very special school, IVY Kinder Educare located on the campus of Lovely Professional University for the staff and students of LPU. In 2016 we collaborated with Cambridge international school, Phagwara. Shortly we will be launching our playschool at Ludhiana. We presently impart quality education to over 11,000 children studying in our schools. The company follows what the Father of the Nation stated: “If you educate a man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate an entire family.” The company closely works towards promoting education for the girl child and children of defense personnel by offering them special discounts. We have initiated special scholarship programs to motivate students and have over the years forwarded 6 crore rupees in form of discounts and scholarships.
Q. What has been the most important part of your journey so far?
The most important learning of my journey has been to understand the needs of parents. This helped me to relaunch our existing play school in Jalandhar in 2016. For me personally, the launching has been the most important part. It is now one of the premium playschools in Jalandhar with an innovative curriculum based on thematic learning which has been developed by our team at Ivy World School.
Q. What is the best and worst decision that you have ever made?
I would say all the decisions were favorable as the best decisions helped us to formulate a good curriculum and an excellent infrastructure for our schools. As far as the worst decisions are concerned, they were a good learning outcome making the worst decisions also favorable. In life you can’t be perfect, you have to try to give your best to be perfect and all the decisions help you gain something.
