Designing Luxury, Delivering Value

Varun Kaher, Founder of Kasa by Holzer, brings together his family’s real estate legacy and his own passion for interiors. In this conversation, he speaks about affordable luxury, timeless design, display-led furniture experiences, and why homes should feel personal, warm, and authentic.

What first pulled you from real estate into the world of interiors?
My family has been in the real estate business since 1987, and we have also been developing and selling fully furnished luxury homes for many years. Since joining the family business, I naturally developed a deep passion for interior and furniture design.

While designing our own properties, I noticed a huge gap in the Tricity furniture market. There was a serious lack of ready-to-move designer furniture, and most furniture houses were offering very traditional designs. Because of this, I often had to source furniture matching my taste from countries like China, Turkey, and Italy.

At the same time, I always wanted to build something of my own, something that would create my own identity. That is when I decided to step into this industry and fill the gap I had personally experienced.

How do you decide what makes a piece timeless?
A timeless piece is defined by two things: its design and its ergonomic comfort. Trends may change, but good design and comfort never go out of style.

What was the biggest gap you saw in luxury furniture?
The biggest gap was the lack of display experience. Most furniture stores in North India have display areas ranging between 5,000 to 20,000 sq. ft., which naturally limits the number of products customers can physically experience. Because of this, many stores rely heavily on catalogues and custom-order systems.

The result is long waiting periods, often more than six months, and many times the final product does not fully meet the client’s expectations because it was selected only through internet references or catalogues.
