Ritika Sachdeva, CEO of Gillco Group, has shaped her leadership journey around authenticity, confidence and purposeful growth. From finding her own leadership style to understanding markets and building lasting relationships, she believes meaningful success comes from people, trust and decisions that create long-term value.
What has been the defining moment in your journey as a woman leader?
I think the defining moment has been realising that I didn’t have to lead like anyone else. I could build my own style, make decisions with confidence and still stay true to who I am. That understanding gave me the confidence to lead authentically rather than trying to fit into an existing idea of what leadership should look like.
What drew you to real estate, and what has kept you passionate about the industry?
Real estate gives you the opportunity to create something tangible that can actually change how people live, work and experience a place. There is something very fulfilling about being able to see an idea take shape and become part of people’s everyday lives. That ability to create something meaningful and lasting is what continues to keep me excited about the industry.
As CEO of Gillco Group, what does leadership mean to you today?
For me, leadership is less about having all the answers and more about building the right team, making clear decisions and giving people the confidence to take ownership. As a leader, I believe it is important to create an environment where people feel trusted and empowered to contribute, while also ensuring that everyone is moving towards a clear larger goal.
What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a woman at the helm of a real estate business?
The biggest challenge has sometimes been having to prove your credibility before people are willing to take your word at face value. You sometimes have to establish that credibility before your decisions are accepted without question. But that experience has also made me more confident in my decisions and strengthened my ability to trust my own judgement.
