Building More Than Businesses: The Sikhs for Business Movement

How a simple idea rooted in trust, Kirat and community is connecting Sikh entrepreneurs across India—and now the world.

Every once in a while, a story deserves to be told not because of the size of an organisation, but because of the impact it creates. Sikhs for Business is one such story. In less than two years, it has grown from a local networking initiative into India’s first fully operational national Sikh business forum, connecting entrepreneurs through trust, mentorship, collaboration and shared Sikh values. Today, it is creating opportunities for small and medium businesses while inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs to grow together rather than alone.

Founded in Ludhiana in June 2024, Sikhs for Business began with a simple vision—to create a trusted platform where Sikh entrepreneurs could network, learn, mentor one another and unlock new business opportunities. Within six months, the movement expanded to Chandigarh, and today its growing community includes some of India’s leading industrialists, including Dr. P. J. Singh (Tynor), Hartek Singh (Hartek Group), Baljeet Singh (Jubilee Group), H. S. Cheema (Cheema Boilers), Taranjit Singh (JIS Group), Upkar Singh (New Swan Group) and many others, who actively mentor and support the initiative.

What was the vision behind Sikhs for Business?

Founder Baljeet Kaur says the idea was born from one belief—that Sikh entrepreneurs possess immense potential but have often grown in isolation.

“I don’t see Sikhs for Business as just a networking platform,” she says. “I see it as a grand buffet where everyone stands under one roof, but every plate is different. One person finds customers, another discovers a mentor, someone meets an investor, while another builds lifelong relationships. Everyone takes what they need while contributing something valuable in return. That is the ecosystem we want to build—where no Sikh entrepreneur has to grow alone.”
