A Story of Medicine and Motherhood

A passionate medical professional and a hands-on mother, Dr. Swati Takkar exemplifies balance, dedication, and grace. Her days are a blend of healing others and nurturing her own—proving that with the right mind-set, structure, and a touch of humour, women really can do it all.

How do you balance your time between the clinic and being a hands-on mom?

That’s a real juggling act! A structured schedule and delegation at work and home help maintain the balance. Even if time with the kids is short some days, I make it intentional—phones down, focused play or conversation keeps our bond strong.

Has motherhood changed your approach to patient care?

Absolutely. Becoming a parent gave me a whole new level of empathy—not just for children but for their caregivers too. I’m more attuned to the emotional side of illness and recovery now. I simplify explanations, offer more reassurance, and make sure people feel truly heard.
