Making Everyday Count and Leading with Flexibility

Nishtha Shukla Anand, President & Trustee, Skills & Marketing at Shoolini University and Shoolini Upskill, brings together education, entrepreneurship and digital growth. Her journey has been shaped by adaptability, learning and a commitment to creating opportunities, particularly for women. She shares her leadership philosophy, lessons from change, and vision for lifelong learning.

What has your entrepreneurial journey taught you about leadership?

Leadership, for me, is not a set of rules; it is about how you choose to conduct your enterprise or team. I believe in giving people flexibility while challenging them to do better. This combination has helped me build effective teams, drive results and maintain the decorum that institution-building demands.

How do you balance two very different ventures?

Consistency and time management help me sustain my foot in different worlds. Education is a slow, trust-built sector, while brand and digital growth across hospitality and D2C demand speed and execution. I do not need to burn the midnight oil; I simply make every day count. Simple but effective processes help. My daily and weekly reports are sacrosanct, and I read them carefully, even though my team suspects otherwise.

What does being a woman in business mean to you?

My first enterprise was built around women through a work-from-home model. I saw the joy and independence it gave women who were sharp and motivated but, due to circumstances, were excluded from traditional office jobs. That was a decade ago. Today, as access to opportunities evolves, I want to keep extending that access and maintain a healthy gender ratio within my own workplace. I was also honoured with the Google Woman Entrepreneur award, which was a wonderful acknowledgement.
