Finding Her Strength and Leading Her Own Way

Fitness was never part of Anupam Jyot Kaur’s original career plan. Yet, what began as an unexpected journey alongside her husband evolved into a leadership role at Pro Ultimate Gyms. Her story is one of self-discovery, resilience and learning to create her own space while leading with authenticity and purpose.

Q. What first drew you to entrepreneurship and the fitness industry?

Honestly, fitness was never something I had planned as a career. My journey began largely because of my husband, who was deeply involved in sports and encouraged me to join him. He had a bigger vision of building a fitness empire, which I did not fully understand at the time. But I knew my strengths: I was organised, enjoyed managing things, bringing structure to chaos and making systems work efficiently. While he brought the vision and passion, I found my role in building the systems around it. Over time, fitness became much more than a business; it became a space where I discovered my capabilities and found an unexpected purpose.

Q. What has your journey as a woman leader taught you?

It has taught me that being a woman should never become a limitation you place on yourself. As a daughter, wife and mother, I have experienced different responsibilities and expectations. There were situations where people questioned whether I could handle something simply because I was a woman, but I refused to accept that narrative. Working outside the home gave me confidence, perspective, resilience and a desire to keep learning. Leadership, for me, is not about being like a man; it is about bringing my strengths, empathy, discipline and determination to the table.
