Paula Wong, CEO and Founder of Paula & Co. DMC Thailand, has carved a distinct space in the global MICE and luxury travel sector. Known for her strategic vision and refined leadership, she has built a reputation grounded in trust, excellence, and cultural intelligence while inspiring women to lead with confidence and clarity.
As a woman leader in the MICE and luxury tourism sector, what challenges shaped your journey most?
The industry is dynamic and highly competitive, where credibility must be earned repeatedly. Early on, I realized consistency would define my reputation more than any single success. I developed resilience, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence to manage expectations and deliver under pressure. Those challenges shaped the foundation of Paula & Co.: precision, discretion, and uncompromising quality.
What inspired your transition from interpreter to entrepreneur in tourism?
My journey began with language but evolved through cross-cultural exposure. As an interpreter, I wasn’t just translating words — I was interpreting intent and nuance. That sparked my fascination with how experiences are shaped. Tourism felt like a natural progression, and entrepreneurship followed because I wanted to design curated experiences that reflected my own standards of excellence.
How would you describe your leadership style?
Visionary, strategic, and empathetic. I believe effective leadership balances foresight with planning and genuine understanding of people.
