Dr. Anmol Sidhu’s journey into paediatrics began with a moment of quiet inspiration in her childhood. Today, as a compassionate and dedicated paediatrician, she combines clinical expertise with heartfelt care—guiding families through both everyday parenting concerns and complex medical decisions with empathy, clarity, and a deep love for children.
What inspired you to become a paediatrician?
My journey began around age 12, when I accompanied my cousin to a hospital for a high fever. I vividly remember the paediatrician’s calm, warm, and confident demeanour. She not only comforted my cousin but also reassured our anxious family. That moment stayed with me—I wanted to be the person who brings comfort in stressful times. During medical training, my bond with children grew stronger. Paediatrics felt less like a specialty and more like a calling—to support children and their families through illness, health, and growth.
What are the most common misconceptions parents have about their child’s health?
A few stand out. First, “chubbier means healthier”—health is about balanced growth, not just weight. Second, the belief that fever is always dangerous. Fevers are usually the body’s natural response to infection and not harmful on their own. Third, attributing every symptom to teething—many times this leads to missed diagnoses. Fourth, the assumption that antibiotics are needed for every cough or fever, when most illnesses are viral. Lastly, relying more on social media or home remedies than medical guidance, which can delay proper care.
How do you balance clinical practice with creating social media content?
My priority is always the families I treat. But I’ve found that even a few thoughtful moments each week can go a long way in creating content that educates and reassures parents. The goal isn’t to go viral—it’s to share credible, relatable advice. I often draw from real conversations and concerns I see daily in my clinic.
