The Robotic Edge in Modern Urology

With a passion for technology and healing, Dr. Karamveer Sabharwal stands at the forefront of modern urology. As a Urologist, Robotic Surgeon, and Kidney Transplant Specialist, his work bridges compassion with innovation, offering patients safer, faster, and more effective treatments through the remarkable world of robotic surgery.

What inspired you to choose urology and get involved in robotic surgery?

I’ve always been drawn to areas of medicine where technology and patient care intersect. Urology is a field where you can truly make a difference in someone’s quality of life using advanced endoscopy, laparoscopy, and robotic procedures. When robotic surgery started emerging, I saw how it could offer patients safer procedures, quicker recovery, and better outcomes—and I knew I wanted to be part of that progress.

How is robotic surgery different from traditional surgery?

With robotic surgery, we use advanced instruments that offer more precision, flexibility, and control—often beyond the capability of the human hand. Unlike laparoscopy, the surgeon also has camera control and an extra arm for tissue retraction. It allows for smaller incisions and a 3D high-definition view, which means less trauma, quicker recovery, and easier access to deep-seated organs like the prostate.
