THE PROSTATE SUPERHERO NOT JUST “ARTIFICIAL” BUT “HUMAN” INTELLIGENCE.

He’s a world-renowned urosurgeon, a highly accomplished endourologist, a compassionate transplant specialist, and an ambidexterous robotic surgeon. Off the surgical table, he’s a soft-note pianist, a passionate guitarist, an avid swimmer, and a budding golfer. Meet Dr. Priyadarshi Ranjan — the new-age master surgeon from Chandigarh making national and global headlines for introducing revolutionary, minimally invasive treatments for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a condition that affects a majority of men over the age of 40. Prostate gland in men serves the function of nurturing the sperms during reproductive adulthood, however with ageing it leads to multiple issues in urination. Traditionally medications and surgery were the mainstay of treating these problems which have been unpopular due to sexual side effects, but now the modern day-care procedures such as Urolift and REZUM have revolutionised the outcomes with success rates close to a 100 percent. Dr Priyadarshi Ranjan is the first trained prostate minimally invasive surgeon from India heading country’s first Prostate Excellence Center at Chandigarh, who is pioneering such innovative, patient centric, outcome oriented procedures since past half a decade. This one-of-a-kind facility offers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for prostate diseases under one roof. Trained in minimally invasive prostate surgery by the NHS in Birmingham, he has performed over 1,000 advanced BPH procedures in India — making him the country’s most experienced surgeon in this field.

A Paradigm Shift In Prostate Care BPH is a near-universal condition among men over 40, often causing urinary symptoms that can significantly impact quality of life — from poor urinary flow to strained urination, and a persistent sensation of being unable to completely empty the bladder. Traditional treatments like TURP (Transurethral Resection of the Prostate) and laser surgeries, although effective, often involve longer hospital stays, catheter dependence, bleeding, incontinence, and permanent sexual side effects. In contrast, Prostate Minimally Invasive Surgery (ProMIS) — namely UroLift and Rezúm (Water Vapour Therapy) — is rapidly emerging as the global gold standard for BPH.

“These procedures are designed with the patient’s quality of life as the top priority,” says Dr. Ranjan. “They are office-based, daycare treatments that not only relieve urinary symptoms but also preserve sexual and ejaculatory function.”
