A unique fusion of culture, creativity, and community, Poshtel unlike traditional accommodations, redefines spaces as more than just places to stay. Gautam Munjal, Founder, Poshtel, tells us about how they curate a dynamic environment that fosters a sense of belonging and shared experiences.
How did the idea of combining boutique hotel luxury with hostel social dynamics come about for Poshtel?
The concept of Poshtel emerged from a desire to merge comfort and amenities of a boutique hotel with the sociability of a travel hostel. Our vision was to create a unique space that seamlessly blended chic design with practical functionalities, ushering in a new era of affordable luxury. Recognizing the evolving preferences of Gen Z and millennials, we understood that luxury for this demographic transcends opulence and over the top designs. Instead, it revolves around design, community, and cultural engagement. Therefore, the concept of Poshtel lies at the intersection of design-travel-culture-community.
The driving force behind Poshtel was a commitment to fostering connections among individuals from diverse backgrounds. By providing a welcoming environment that encourages social interaction, you can meet, connect, and eat with people from all over. We aimed to redefine the hospitality experience, catering to a generation that values both comfort and communal living.
How do you promote the local businesses or involve them in your project for a more authentic experience?
At Poshtel, we are dedicated to promoting and collaborating with local businesses. We actively engage local interior designers and architects. For instance, we worked with Sherab Tharbus for our property in Manali called Naiden House. She helped us combine traditional Himalayan design with modern day sensibilities.
Furthermore, we provide opportunities for local businesses to showcase their products by offering space for popups and events. This not only supports the growth of homegrown businesses but also adds a unique element to the Poshtel experience.
In our commitment to the community, a significant portion of our furniture is handcrafted by talented local artisans. By sourcing locally, we not only contribute to the sustainability of the area but also imbue our spaces with one-of-a-kind pieces.
