Nestled in the lush, green outskirts of Kochi, Terracotta Sanctuary is not just a house—it’s a feeling. A serene holiday retreat for a young family of three from the US, this soulful home celebrates the raw, timeless beauty of exposed brick and natural materials. Designed by Meera Pyarelal, Founder and Creative Director of Temple Town, every corner of this house tells a story of love for nature, Indian heritage, and sustainable living.
Located inside a peaceful gated community, the home was brought to life by Anugraha Srishti, a builder committed to creating sustainable spaces. The brief was clear—design a home that breathes with nature, one where the indoors and outdoors melt into each other seamlessly. And that’s exactly what Meera delivered.
Step inside and you’re instantly embraced by textures that speak of the land—terracotta tiles, cement flooring, lime-plastered walls, reclaimed wood, and cane. Earthy, sunlit spaces are cooled naturally with clever cross-ventilation and large windows that bring the outside in.
The living room, designed with long wooden sofas reminiscent of treasure chests, features century-old property documents on the wall, grounding the space in its local roots. A majestic four-poster daybed sits proudly, offering comfort and style in equal measure.
