Dr. Parampreet Singh Nagpal is transforming lives through ground-breaking robotic joint replacement surgeries. Following his family legacy with a passion for precision and care, he’s bringing advanced, affordable solutions closer to home—helping patients walk pain-free and reclaim their mobility with hope and confidence.
What inspired you to become a surgeon?
I grew up in a family deeply rooted in medicine—both my parents were surgeons. Our dinner conversations often revolved around patients and surgeries, which naturally sparked my interest in surgery. My father established the first multispecialty hospital in Bathinda and Malwa back in 1984. He pioneered neurosurgery and cardiac centers in the region, creating a legacy I’ve always admired.
During my medical training, I had the privilege to work and train in the USA, Canada, and Germany. While I received offers to settle abroad, my heart was set on returning home and serving my people. Becoming a surgeon here, and contributing to healthcare in my hometown, has been my lifelong mission.
How did it feel to perform your first robotic joint surgery?
It was the culmination of over a decade of preparation and training. We were the first in this region to introduce computer navigation surgeries, and by 2023, we launched the first fully active robotic system at our hospital.
My first robotic surgery was for a patient who had previously undergone knee replacement in Canada but was dissatisfied with the results. She entrusted us with her other knee, and the outcome was remarkable—faster recovery, less pain, and excellent mobility within days. That success validated robotic surgery’s promise: precision, reduced blood loss, minimal pain, and quicker rehabilitation. It was a watershed moment that built trust in this technology.
