Rabia Grewal, Makeup Artist
How would you define your journey in the shoes of a makeup artist?
I started the journey of becoming a makeup artist 8 years ago, and at that time, I didn’t know where it would lead me to and how steady this was going to be; I just went with the flow and followed doing what I loved. As a little girl, I loved playing with makeup and I had a strange fascination for lipsticks and lip-smackers. Today, when I walk into a makeup store, the feeling is no different and I simply love it. I have qualified from Headmasters Academy & Academy of Makeup, Melbourne, Australia in Makeup & Hairdressing. Living in India and Australia, I spend about 6 months in Chandigarh during the wedding season and the experience has been simply enticing.
When I started makeup, most people at that point couldn’t understand the idea of learning makeup and hairdressing to take it up as a career, and I could not think of anything better. In 2010, I did my first fashion show with Mexican Designers Paulina and Malinali and Pineda Covalin for their first show in India followed by being a part of the makeup artists team for Commonwealth games held in New Delhi. I also worked for Zara and Lifestyle; working backstage was amazing. I got to work with Vj Anusha, Dia Mirza, and Minnisha Lamba to name a few. Along with great exposure, it also gave me a sense of time and management. Ever since then, there was no stopping; I moved on to freelancing as a makeup artist for movies, I got to do two of my favourite things, Makeup & Travel. Years have passed and I have grown with makeup; multiple photo shoots, bridal makeovers, weddings in India & overseas, makeup workshops and today I also have my own line of lashes & makeup brushes. Along with providing makeup services, we also offer services in beauty, skin, and hair.
