For Muralist and Structure Designer, Smiley Chaudhary, art is always for “heart’s” sake
A Professor turned Muralist and Structure Designer, Smiley Chaudhary has a penchant for art which motivated her to lay the foundation stone of Thara School of Art at Amritsar six years ago and ever since then, there has been no turning back.
“Earlier I used to serve as a lecturer of Fine Arts at BBK DAV College, Amritsar from 2006 to 2014. I reasoned the cause of unemployment and took the initiative to play my role in encouraging the budding artists. So, I decided to quit my job and started working as a freelancer. For me, art is always for heart’s sake,” shared Chaudhary.
Making a Difference
Chaudhary has made an indispensable contribution towards the field of art. However, her journey was not completely a bed of roses.
“I have faced many challenges and they have become a routine affair of my profession. People inhabiting this area are crazy about food, fashion, brands, diamonds and mechanized goods. They are never allured easily by artistry. I also had to struggle hard to prove my mettle and earn recognition. But my sassy attitude helped me to pursue this road. People have now started acknowledging my work. Parents are inspired by my work and they want their children to make their future in Fine Arts,” stated Chaudhary.
