FROM ROYALTRADITIONS TO MODERN HEIRLOOMS

Since 1950, P.C. Totuka & Sons has been synonymous with Jaipur’s gemstone legacy

and timeless craftsmanship. Gautam Totuka, Director at P.C. Totuka & Sons,

shares how his grandfather’s vision continues to shape their design philosophy, celebrating vibrant gemstones, heritage artistry, and meaningful jewellery that transcends generations.

What’s the story behind the founding of P.C. Totuka & Sons?

Our journey began in 1950 with my grandfather, Mr. Padam Chand Totuka. Armed with nothing more than a bicycle and an unwavering passion for coloured gemstones, he travelled the lanes of Jaipur, building relationships rooted in trust, integrity, and a deep appreciation for beauty. What truly set him apart was his fearless eye for vibrant stones—emeralds, rubies, sapphires—not merely as commodities, but as works of art. That founding spirit of excellence, authenticity, and vision continues to guide P.C. Totuka & Sons even today.

How has Jaipur’s royal legacy shaped your jewellery?

Jaipur’s rich aesthetic and spiritual heritage continues to shape our collections. From the precision of stone setting to the intricate use of meenakari (enamel) on gold, each piece is handcrafted in the same meticulous tradition our forefathers practiced in the royal ateliers. It’s a homage to a time when jewellery was deeply symbolic of power, protection, and devotion.

What defines the Totuka design philosophy?

Our design philosophy finds its core in balancing age-old symbolism with modern sensibility. We create minimal yet evocative silhouettes that highlight the individuality of each stone, while keeping the aesthetic refreshingly current. We ensure that the energy of the gemstones remains at the forefront, making every piece both meaningful and wearable.
