As a woman entrepreneur in the fashion industry, what challenges have you faced and overcome?
In 2003, I embarked on the journey of establishing “Mona’s Studio” in the midst of a growing wave of women entrepreneurs. Overcoming the challenges was far from easy, especially for a reserved individual like myself. Transforming my inherent shyness into a charismatic presence became a necessity to navigate the networks of the fashion industry. Additionally, managing a predominantly male workforce required a gradual process of establishing authority and effective leadership.
What inspired you to start Mona’s Studio?
Following my graduation in English, I married and clung to a childhood dream of crafting dreamy wedding attire. Remember those days of playing pretend weddings in makeshift sarees from dupattas? Well, for me, that wasn’t just a passing phase; it sparked a passion for creating enchanting bridal fashion.
How do you balance your personal and professional life as a business owner?
Juggling work life and home life is a breeze for me. I always make it to my kids’ school events while handling everything at work. It can get a bit hectic, but the rewards make it all worthwhile.
