Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, is a visionary leader committed to driving Thailand’s tourism towards high-value and sustainability. With a passion for meaningful travel experiences and community development, she aims to elevate Thailand’s tourism industry through strategic partnerships, digital innovation, and cultural promotion.
What inspired you to join the Tourism Authority of Thailand?
I love to travel, so I wanted to work somewhere that would give me an opportunity to explore Thailand and the world—not just to see the place but to really explore the destination and engage with its people.
In addition, I wanted an opportunity to contribute to the country’s development. Tourism is interconnected with many sectors, and through tourism, I could do something for the communities, the environment, and the country as a whole.
How do you plan to further promote tourism in Thailand during your tenure?
Under my tenure, TAT will be driving Thailand’s tourism towards High -Value and sustainability, emphasizing elevating and moving forward to a better tourism ecosystem. To do so, we will implement a PASS strategy that will focus on working closely with our partners from within and outside of the tourism sector, accelerating access to the digital world, tapping into new subcultures, and putting sustainability at the forefront.
