Dr. Neeru Bali, a dedicated doctor by profession, has always been deeply committed to caring for the ailing. However, her passion for education led her to establish EdCosmo, an educational advisory that strives to provide children with quality education, both in India and abroad. Over the past decade, Dr. Bali has become acutely aware of the necessity of spreading awareness about the importance of receiving quality education from a young age. This realization gave birth to EdCosmo, which has since been making a significant impact on the lives of many students and their families.
Could you share the story behind EdCosmo and how your journey has unfolded so far?
My professional journey began in medicine, where I spent a significant portion of my life caring for the sick. However, about eight years ago, I realized that what our society desperately needs is quality education. The rapid advancements in information technology worldwide made it clear that spreading knowledge is crucial for uplifting the masses and driving progress. This realization prompted me to start raising awareness among children and their parents about the importance of pursuing quality education from reputed institutions, both in India and abroad. As time has passed, my belief in this mission has only grown stronger. I firmly believe that children are the future of our country, and by equipping them with the right knowledge, we can empower them to become ambassadors of progress for our nation.
What changes have you observed in the education sector over the years?
Despite our best efforts, the reality is that many international universities are far ahead of those in India in almost every field. It takes decades for institutes and universities to evolve into international destinations—they need a culture of dedicated faculty and years of student performance to reach a level of excellence. I wish we could also start investing more resources, cultivating dedicated faculty, and encouraging philanthropic funding to create universities of international repute in India. Until we achieve that, it’s understandable why students aspire to study at the world’s best universities. I’m encouraged by the emergence of some promising universities in India over the past few years and hope that this trend continues. Ideally, in the near future, we will be able to offer education in India that rivals international standards.
