Bridging Farming and Politics with Love

He is a politician with a profound connection to Punjab’s agricultural heritage. Hailing from a prominent farming family, Harjaap Singh Sangha’s upbringing instilled in him the virtues of patience, perseverance, and adaptability—essential traits mirrored in both farming and politics. With firsthand experience navigating the dynamic challenges of farming, Sangha approaches politics with humility and a deep-rooted faith in service. In conversation with Urban Melange, he shares insights into his unique background, his commitment to addressing the needs of Punjab’s farming community, and his vision for bridging tradition with innovation in political governance.

Why did you decide to pursue both farming and politics?

Growing up in the farming community of Doaba, I always felt a deep connection to the land and the people who work it. My education in England broadened my perspective, but it also reinforced my commitment to the values of hard work and resilience that farming instills. Pursuing politics alongside farming allows me to represent the interests of our farmers and ensure that their voices are heard in the political arena.

How do you balance your responsibilities as a farmer and a politician?

Balancing these roles requires careful time management and a strong support system. I start my day early on the farm, overseeing operations and addressing any immediate concerns. Later, I focus on my political responsibilities, meeting with constituents, attending events, and working with my team to address the issues facing our community. The key is staying organized and having a clear sense of priorities.
