‘Addressing drug use among youth is a priority’

Anupartap Singh Brar, former national vice president Youth Akali Dal is a visionary leader committed to addressing Punjab’s multifaceted challenges. An advocate for educational quality improvement, he emphasizes investing in teacher training, infrastructure, and resources to nurture a creative, innovative, and critical-thinking educational environment. In conversation with Urban Melange, he talks about his innovative strategies for shaping Punjab’s future.

What inspired you to enter politics at such a young age?

I have worked very closely with my father in the last two elections i.e. 2017 and 2022. As hectic as the elections or a politician’s life may be, if you can help even one needy person, it’s inspiration enough to continue.

How do you envision your role in shaping the future of Punjab?

I believe in starting from the basics, especially in public education. We need to elevate public schools to the standards of the best private ones. Additionally, I aim to lead Punjab towards sustainable development, transitioning from solely agriculture to socioeconomic growth.
