Testimony of the entrepreneurship, aristocracy and flamboyant lifestyle of the Dhariwals, the designer pad exemplifies the fine art of living
Owned by Manipal and Amrita Dhariwal, the duo had no trouble envisioning their dream home. Swanky décor, bespoke artifacts and exotic foliage, the place has been customized to fit an artistic description of design and style. The grandness of this masterpiece is evident in every little detail that is perfected to meet the homemaker’s expectations.
The mogul home is a luxuriously furnished mansion in the midst of Chandigarh’s hot spots, located in Sector 9, away from the maddening city centre. It has elevated the ordinary to the exemplary, the simple to the sublime and the dull to the divine!
Natalie Gupta takes a walk through the designer pad, with Amrita and Manipal Dhariwal.
Manipal is an entrepreneur born in India, who grew up in East Africa and was schooled in USA. Amrita hails from a bureaucratic background and is a historian. A passion for his soil and potential in the place encouraged him to set up a software development office in India. Presently the couple is shuttling between two continents. Clearly, their home is a true representation of a multicultural lifestyle. The duo shares the home with their eleven- year-old daughter Annika and Saint Bernard dog Louis Vuitton.
The homemaker shares, “Originally the house was built in the 1960s and we bought this place in 2013. To make this place
livable, we gave it a quick makeover. We
refurnished the entire place in two months as both my husband and I are fond of living in a good home.”
“
Home is where one spends most part of the day and should reflect ones individuality. Warmth with an underlying sense of old world charm, this is how I would describe our personal style. I believe the house should be Instagram ready at all times,” adds Amrita.
Avid travelers, Amrita and Manipal have picked up artifacts during their trips to Italy, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Indonesia etc. They are quite fond of paintings; which are an amalgamation of European mix and modern Indian artists. The upholstery is by Pottery Barn, an American-based home furnishing store chain with retail stores in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Australia. The entire furniture is from the United States of America. They are classic and timeless pieces from Baker, Century and Henredon furniture.
Inspired by the resort style, the house is lined by date palms. The space opens up to the lush green garden blooming with flora and water features, which add a sense of Zen. The luxe address is an oasis of love and relaxation.
