For over three decades, Shemrock School has been shaping young minds with a strong focus on values, innovation, and holistic education. What began as a preschool in 1989 has today grown into a respected educational institution. Behind this legacy are Amarjit Singh Bajwa and his son Karan Bajwa, a father-son duo united by a shared vision for meaningful learning and student success.
How has the vision for Shemrock evolved over the years?
Amarjit Singh Bajwa:
When we started Shemrock as a preschool in 1989, our vision was simple — to create a nurturing environment where children could receive quality education in a child-friendly atmosphere. In 2002, we expanded further by establishing Shemrock K-12 School in Mohali, which today is CBSE affiliated and ranked among the top schools in the Tricity region.
Over the years, education has evolved rapidly, and so has our approach. Today, our vision goes far beyond academics. We aim to nurture globally aware, confident, and compassionate learners through experiential education, innovation, leadership opportunities, and holistic development. While modern teaching methods like STEAM learning, global collaborations, and student well-being initiatives have become part of the journey, our core belief in value-based education remains unchanged.
What is the biggest lesson a father can pass on in business?
Amarjit Singh Bajwa:
The biggest lesson is integrity and consistency. Success is never built overnight; it comes through commitment, honesty, and the courage to take responsibility. I have always believed that relationships with students, parents, staff, and society are far more important than short-term gains. When you lead with sincerity and purpose, growth follows naturally.
Karan, what did you learn from watching your father lead?
Karan Bajwa:
The most important thing I learned from my father is that leadership is about service and responsibility. I have seen him remain personally involved in every aspect of the institution, whether it is student welfare, infrastructure development, or staff growth. His calm decision-making, discipline, and long-term vision taught me that leadership is not about authority; it is about building trust and creating opportunities for others to grow.
