The New Face of Aesthetic Medicine

Aesthetic medicine today is about far more than enhancing appearances—it is about boosting confidence, promoting skin health, and helping people look as vibrant as they feel. Dr. Gitika Sharda, Founder of Dermanova, has built her practice on evidence-based treatments, patient trust, and natural-looking results. In this conversation, she shares her inspiring entrepreneurial journey, evolving trends in aesthetic dermatology, and the changing expectations of modern patients.

What inspired you to start Dermanova, and how has the journey been so far?

My inspiration to start Dermanova came from my experience as an aesthetic physician. Interestingly, it all began in 2020 during my postpartum leave after the birth of my baby. A close friend approached me for a PRP hair treatment, and she became the very first patient at my clinic. When she achieved excellent results, she recommended others, and that marked the beginning of the journey.

Over the years, I noticed that many patients struggled to find effective, science-backed skincare and aesthetic solutions that truly addressed their concerns. I felt there was a gap between clinical expertise and the treatments available in the market. Dermanova was created to bridge that gap through medical knowledge, evidence-based innovation, and a patient-centric approach.

The journey has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing positive patient outcomes, building trust, and staying updated with advancements in aesthetic medicine continue to motivate me. One of the proudest milestones has been performing more than 500 filler procedures in a small town like Pathankot. While challenges have certainly existed, each one has strengthened our commitment to delivering safe, effective, and high-quality aesthetic solutions.

What are the most common skin concerns you see among patients today?

The most common concerns include signs of aging, pigmentation, acne scars, unwanted facial hair, and loss of facial definition. Many patients also tell me they look tired, stressed, or older than they feel, even when they are well-rested. Increasingly, people are seeking treatments that help them look refreshed and confident while maintaining a natural appearance.
