From Racetracks to Radiance

Once a motorsport enthusiast and now the visionary co-founder of OMARA, Samarth Jaiswal has charted a truly unique journey. In this interview, he shares how speed, precision, and teamwork on the racetrack seamlessly transitioned into creating an Indian luxury diamond brand rooted in heritage and heart.

From racetracks to rings — what fuelled the shift from speed to sparkle?
The time I spent racing on the racetracks actually exposed me to a whole new world of luxury — and by luxury, I’m not referring to brands but a lifestyle that stems from generations of exposure, culture, travel and education. The kind of people I used to hang out with and meet at the racing arenas made me realize that India had so much to offer to the world. Hence stemmed the idea of creating a luxury diamond brand that could one day compete with international brands and still be extremely Indian in its roots. The exposure from my racing days was the real push for me towards OMARA.

How does your motorsport mind-set influence your jewellery design process?
The most important traits that I bring from my racing days to OMARA are teamwork and adaptability. Races are only won with the support of a dedicated team — mechanics, engineers, strategists — and at OMARA, Ishani and I are constantly aiming to create our dream team across design, manufacturing, marketing, HR, photography, and more.
Just like in racing, where the driver must adapt to track conditions, weather, and unpredictability, we prepare for the future at OMARA, but always stay ready to adapt — especially in the ever-evolving luxury sector.

What part of the diamond’s journey do you find most magical?
For me, it has to be the origin of a diamond. Just imagine — some diamonds are as old as the Earth itself. Their journey began when dinosaurs roamed this land. The pressure and stress they endure to become the hardest substance on Earth is pure magic. From coal comes something so extraordinary. It’s a fairy-tale of perseverance that leads to beauty.
