Rakhi Sharma is a master athlete, a dedicated fitness entrepreneur, and the proud owner of Soul Train Gym and Soul Touch Salon. Her journey from being unfit to becoming a national and international medal-winning athlete is an inspiring tale of perseverance and passion. With years of dedication, she has transformed not only her own life but also inspired countless others. In conversation with Urban Melange, Rakhi shares her journey, challenges, and philosophy on fitness, business, and life, emphasizing resilience and self-discipline.
What motivated you to become an athlete?
First of all, I wanted to be a role model for my son. I wanted to do something different so I could tell him that anything is possible. When I started my journey, I was completely unfit. That’s when I decided to participate in marathons. I ran in several marathons, and the thrill of competition and the joy of winning motivated me. Eventually, I made up my mind that one day, I would compete internationally and win medals for India.
How does fitness influence your approach to running a salon?
My first business, Soul Train Gym, focuses on inner health and strength, while my second venture, Soul Touch Salon, is all about enhancing outer beauty. Both businesses complement each other, promoting mental and physical well-being. While the salon enhances hair, skin, and nail care, the gym builds strength and endurance.
To create a holistic experience, we invite salon clients to participate in yoga sessions at the gym. This helps them de-stress and rejuvenate, making them feel good both inside and out.
