1. What inspired you to start your journey in the education sector?
My father was an educationist with over 40 years of experience. He was the founder of Dalhousie Public School, a boarding school in Dalhousie, and his dedication to education deeply inspired me. Having studied at Punjab Public School, Nabha, I strongly believe that the best way to groom a young child is through boarding school experience. However, the school in Dalhousie faced constraints, particularly in terms of sports facilities and campus space. This motivated me to establish Badhani School, which fulfilled my vision of a well-rounded boarding school.
Our campus boasts the largest sports facilities among boarding schools. We have our own borewells, addressing the water scarcity issue prevalent in hill schools, and ensure ample water supply for students to bathe twice daily. Unique to Badhani, we have a golf course, a cricket stadium, football pitches, basketball courts, tennis courts, swimming pools, and more. Additionally, students can trek from the school hostels to a campsite within the campus. Unlike most hill boarding schools where students are exposed to city distractions, Badhani ensures a secure environment with all amenities available on campus. The only time students leave is under parental supervision. Our aim is to maintain a structured, supervised environment for students until they complete Grade 12.
2. How do you see the relevance of boarding schools in today’s educational landscape?
In today’s world, children are exposed to numerous distractions and unwanted influences. Boarding schools provide a secure and safe environment. At Badhani, we prioritize a clean and healthy atmosphere, with the cleanest air in the country and access to organic farms. This is particularly crucial as increasing numbers of children suffer from asthma and other health issues due to poor air quality in cities.
