In this interview, she shares her journey, insights, and advice.
What inspired you to specialize in oculoplasty and facial aesthetics?
My journey into oculoplastics began during my postgraduate training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, where my first research was focused on childhood tumors around the eyes. This foundation kindled a keen desire to further specialize in restorative surgery, scarless endoscopic naso-orbital surgery, and periocular aesthetic treatments for the eyes and face. A three-year residency at PGIMER and a fellowship in oculoplasty were the first steps on this journey.
Can you explain what oculoplasty involves?
Oculoplasty involves surgery related to the eye and its surrounding structures. It includes a wide variety of surgical procedures that deal with the orbit (eye socket), eyelids, eye bags, tear ducts, extraocular structures, and other structures around the eye and face.
