‘The warmth of Punjabis is Unmatchable’

Believing in giving a personal touch to all the weddings and events that she plans, Shikha Sareen, MD, Kamal Tent House and the woman behind the brand Festyn is a well-known name in the wedding decoration industry in Amritsar, Punjab. In a conversation with Nikita Agarwal, she talks about her approach while planning a wedding and how he treats all her clients as family.

Q. Tell us about your brand and your connection with Punjab.

I am the Managing Director at Kamal Tent House, a 50-year-old firm that was started by Mr. Susheel Sareen and run by my husband Vishal Sareen. I joined this family business 15 years back. 9 years ago, I and my family decided to take a step further and launched Festyn Era, a banquet hall and venue for celebrations. It is now a favorite amongst the people in Punjab for the celebration of their happy moments, weddings, and get-togethers. Moving ahead, we then launched Festyn Royale Resort, a luxurious version of the Festyn Era. Taking the benchmark higher, we came up with a one-of-its-kind property, by the name of Festyn Palais, an exquisite destination curated for a remarkable experience. This is the royal baby of our Festyn brand. The building is opulent with remarkable architecture. We are a one-stop shop for wedding planning, from food to venue to décor.

Q. What is that one thing about Punjab that you would miss if you had to shift to another state/country?

The warmth and excitement of Punjabis. It is unmatchable. Every client I meet has a different story to execute and celebrate, whether it is a birthday party or a wedding. I love the cheerful way and sheer happiness in which people here enjoy their celebrations. The colorful personality of Punjabis is what I will miss the most if I ever have to move out of the city.
