As we all nestle in our abodes safely during the nationwide lockdown, certain Corona Warriors are working on the frontline to help us emerge victorious in this ongoing battle against the novel Coronavirus. One such frontline doctor is Dr Zafar Ahmed Senior Consultant, Critical Care, Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Fortis Hospital, Mohali who is putting his best foot forward to ensure that the agony of the patients soon comes to a halt.
How has your typical day routine changed since the virus outbreak?
We are now working on a different routine with five day of COVID area exposure followed by five days off and then five days of Non-COVID area. We now avoid mixing with colleagues and visiting the unexposed area. At home I remain isolated from my family with minimal interaction.
What are some major challenges that you tend to face these days?
There is immense pressure on everyone for being vigilant because of this pandemic. Even we as health care workers have the fear of catching the virus and it becomes very difficult to keep your flock together and encourage everyone around. We spend the most of our time with nurses and helpers to keep them positive. The focus is on the safety of all the associated workers, doctors and nurses.
