The Beauty Regimen Check-list

Here’s a quick check-list that will help you look your best on your special day!

To look your best on the wedding day, you need timely preparation. It can be of a great help, because it gives you the opportunity to take care of even the smallest details. So, start taking regular treatments at least a month in advance, so that you can attend to skin and hair problems, if any.

Be Fit: All brides go through some kind of stress, which can reflect on the face. So, first on your list should be fitness. The right diet along with daily exercise can really add a glow to the skin. Include fresh fruits and fresh fruit juices, raw salads, sprouts, yogurt, and cottage cheese to your daily diet and practice some exercise regularly. Start with deep breathing exercises to calm you down and reduce stress.

Perfect Make-up: There are various salons that offer a total bridal make-over. Find out about the packages that are available in good time, so that you can make your appointments well in advance. Talk to the beautician about your make-up and consult the hairdresser about the right hairstyle for the big day. Salons offer a choice of make-up, like high definition, air brushed, or soft make-up. “High definition” allows the make-up to look flawless, especially in photographs and close-ups. Rich in pigments, it suits a variety of skin tones. “Soft make-up” is a minimal, natural make-up look, with a naturally flawless and non-shiny skin texture and natural colours. “Air Brushed” make-up is sprayed on, rather than being applied with sponges and brushes. It is said to be faster to apply and easier to remove.

Deep cleanse: Cleanse your skin twice a day, using a cleansing cream for normal to dry skin, a face wash for oily skin, or a cleansing milk for combination skin. Specialized cleansers for acne prone skin are also available. If you have an oily skin which is dull, or you have blackheads, use a scrub twice a week to deep cleanse. After cleansing or washing the face, apply the scrub and rub it gently on the skin. Then wash off with plenty of water. Exfoliation with scrubs, twice a week, can work wonders; removing dead skin cells and brightening the skin. It also produces an even colour tone. You can make a facial scrub with walnut powder, honey and lemon juice. You can also use mix ground almonds with curd, add a pinch of turmeric and use it as a scrub.

Apply a facial mask twice or thrice a week. You can buy a facial mask, according to your skin type, or prepare one at home. Take two teaspoons ground almonds and mix half teaspoon honey and one teaspoon rose water. Apply this on the face and wash it off after 20 minutes.

Before your bath, massage a lemon turmeric pre-bath cream or sesame seed oil on the body. After your bath, apply a moisturizing lotion on the body, while the skin is damp.

Twice a week, apply warm almond oil on the scalp and hair. Dip a towel in hot water, wring out the water and wrap the warm, moist towel on the head. Keep it on for half an hour. Then wash the hair.

If you need to get waxing and threading done, it is better to have it done a day or two before the wedding. If you have never had threading done before, it is better not to attempt it close to the wedding date, as sensitive skins can develop redness or even rash.

Just Relax: A day before the wedding day, have your manicure and pedicure done, followed by the application of mehndi.  It is a good idea to have manicure and pedicure at a beauty parlour. Keep enough time for this, so that you can have your hands and feet massaged. It not only benefits the skin, but also helps in relaxation.

Try to get adequate sleep few weeks before the wedding. Sleep is very important for beauty as all the repair and restoration work of the cells take place during sleep. So, stay rejuvenated and enjoy every moment to make the most of it!
