And this time, he has chosen Saudi Arabia as his family-friendly vacation destination. Messi, who is also a tourism brand ambassador for Saudi Arabia, arrived in the country’s capital city, Riyadh, with his family for an action-packed two-day trip.
This is Messi’s second visit to Saudi Arabia, having explored the city of Jeddah with friends last year. However, this time around, he is accompanied by his family, who are all excited to discover the historical and cultural gems of Riyadh, as well as its modern, vibrant metropolis. And who wouldn’t be excited? Saudi Arabia is quickly emerging as one of the world’s most dynamic and diverse year-round destinations, welcoming a record-breaking 93.5 million visitors last year.
The Messi family started their vacation by visiting an authentic Saudi farm, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They watched a palm weaving demonstration, where they learned about the significance of the majestic palm trees in Saudi Arabia, which produce over 1.5 million tons of dates annually – a central part of Saudi cuisine. They also enjoyed playing with and feeding the Arabian gazelle, which is part of an ambitious rewilding program in the country.
